An American Werewolf
In London
Universal
Cert 18

London
becomes a hunting ground for a tourist-turned-werewolf in this seminal
1981 horror from John Landis. When Jack (Griffin Dunne) and David's
(David Naughton) moonlight stroll is interrupted by an eerie howl and
a subsequent attack from what appears to be a savage wolf, one lies
dead, the other badly injured.
Coming round in hospital, David starts to suffer from bizarre dreams
and thinks he's hallucinating when his late friend keeps popping-round
for a chat. David soon hooks-up with a sympathetic nurse (Jenny Agutter)
and tries to get on with his life. However, as the next full moon creeps
round, David's symptoms keep getting worse and Londoners had better
watch out or they might just be on the menu.
This classic horror outing has been digitally remastered. It includes
actors' audio commentary, interviews with director John Landis and SFX
guru Rick Baker, behind-the-scenes featurette, notes on technical effects,
deleted scenes, storyboard to film comparison, a stills gallery and
a four-page booklet.
An American Werewolf In London is available to buy through Teenage Kick's
e-commerce partner Digitaltainment for only £18.59.
Moulin Rouge
20th Century Fox
Cert 12

Nicole
Kidman flaunts her talent in Baz Luhrmann's magical musical that'll
leave you reeling. The story, arguably the weakest link in this film
extravaganza, is set at the turn of the 19th-Century, when an eager
young English poet, Christian (Ewan McGregor), newly arrived in Paris,
hooks-up with some fellow creative spirits, including Toulouse (John
Leguizamo) and an unconscious Argentinean (Jacek Koman). Christian's
soon roped into writing a show which the group hope will be performed
at the legendary Moulin Rouge.
Christian falls in love with the Moulin Rouge's brightest star and lead
courtesan, Satine (Nicole Kidman). However, a jealous duke who's financing
the Moulin's renovation will stop at nothing to ensure Satine becomes
his property.
Ewan McGregor scrapes by as always, but the rest of the cast are excellent,
particularly a strutting Jim Broadbent as the club's owner. You've never
seen anything like Moulin Rouge, and that's a promise.
There are five featurettes and a documentary by US TV company HBO, plus
a live MTV performance, eight behind-the-scenes sections and more than
10 Easter eggs! This must surely be one of the most complete DVD releases
ever.
Moulin Rouge is available through Teenage Kick's e-commerce partner
Digitaltainment for only £19.99.

the "adventure capitalist" from cashing-in on his find.
